There was once was a village called Delta in Upstate New York, but that was prior to 1912 when the Delta Lake Dam project opened and flooded what remained of the infrastructure that was not relocated. Records indicate that just fewer than 300 buildings were moved. How many residents moved is for historians.
The Lake Delta Fire Department is a remnant of a village that no longer exists on any map. It is comprised of Fire Fighters, Emergency Medical Technicians (Advanced and Basic) and Fire Police. Many of our members are qualified to perform in all three areas.
Lake Delta Fire Department receives no funding from taxation. Nor are we paid for any emergency we respond to. We are supported by donations from our community, fundraising events by our members plus a stipend from the Town of Lee, the Town of Western and City of Rome.
Ours is a fire department that encourages and desires diversity in race, creed and culture. We also recognize that women particularly serve a unique and valuable role in a fire department. We encourage all to apply.
Lake Delta fireman and EMS are there to serve everyone and we invite anyone who can contribute to to apply as a member.
